MLK Shabbat Service with Musical Guest, Cantor Jeff Klepper
12 Jan @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Location: Sanctuary, Zoom, Facebook
Our year-round, congregational Shabbat evening services are warm and filled with the music and spirit of our community. Services last approximately one hour and are appropriate for all ages. Services are followed by an Oneg.
We welcome Cantor Jeff Klepper back to Temple Emanuel to join Cantor Rachel for a special service honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. through the music of the Civil Rights Movement. Cantor Klepper will include a teaching about the history of this music and its roots in gospel spirituals through pictures, videos and songs.
“History has never known a protest movement so rich in song as the Civil Rights Movement. Nor a movement in which songs are as important.” Newsweek, August 31, 1964
