Shabbat Sukkot Service and Festive Oneg in the Sukkah

18 Oct @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Location: Service in Sanctuary and on Zoom and Facebook; Oneg in Sukkah

The High Holy Days continue with the abundance of Sukkot, the festival of giving thanks for the fall harvest. It also commemorates the 40 years of Jewish wandering in the desert after the giving of the Torah atop Mt. Sinai. Sukkot means “booths” or “huts” in Hebrew, and one tradition is to build a sukkah, a small, temporary booth or hut to use during the seven-day festival for eating, entertaining and even for sleeping.

Join us for our Shabbat Sukkot service filled with the music and spirit of our community. The service will  last approximately one hour and is appropriate for all ages. The service will be followed by a festive dessert oneg in the sukkah.

In honor of Sukkot, we will be holding a produce drive. Please bring contributions of apples, squash, gourds, pumpkins, cabbage, carrots, onions or brussel sprouts to the temple lobby or the sukkah. Your produce donations will be used to decorate the sukkah and then go to nourish our food-insecure neighbors.
