Selichot Dinner, Movie and Service

13 Sep @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Location: Multipurpose room
Cost (for dinner): $18/person for members; $25/person for guests

We begin our High Holy Days season with Selichot, a traditional night of introspection and prayer that draws us into the Days of Awe and renewal. In partnership with the Larry Hodes Movie Series, we will screen “Crimes and Misdemeanors,” which received three Academy Award nominations in 1989. The film is a powerful existential comedy drama about moral dilemmas, guilt, human accountability and Jewish religious questions about God’s role in the human realm. This compelling film promises to motivate meaningful conversations to deepen and enrich our community’s High Holy Day experience. The film and deli dinner will be followed by discussion and a brief prayer service led by our clergy. On Selichot we also blow the shofar and change the Torah covers to white for the High Holy Days.
