Explore the legal legacy of the trial of the Nazis for their crimes throughout the Second World War – including the Holocaust – and deepen your understanding of the profound impact of law on historical justice while sitting in our area’s own historic Essex County Superior Court, a symbol of legal heritage dating back to the 1800s.

  • 5:45 pm – Hors d’oeuvres
  • 7:00 pm – Lecture

Renowned legal scholar, John Barrett, St. John’s University School of Law professor, Harvard Law School graduate and a Nuremberg Trials expert will delve into the legacy of Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, chief U.S. prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials.

An introduction will be offered by Rabbi Jessica Spitalnic Mates, who rescued a set of “The Blue Series,” the record of the Nuremberg Trials, which a small university almost discarded. Rabbi Mates has embarked on a compelling journey to showcase the pivotal role of law in restoring order to post-Holocaust, post-WWII Europe.

This program is underwritten by Temple Emanuel.
