On Tisha B’Av, our Grief is Shared Communally

 

Rabbi David Wilfond, among other clergy on the North Shore, shared his thoughs on Tisha B’Av, the saddest day of the Jewish year. Read his perspective in this article written by the Jewish Journal.

In Andover, Rabbi David Wilfond joined Temple Emanuel on July 1. Wilfond is thinking about teachings that connect Tisha B’Av to the next holiday in the Jewish cycle, as well as those after it.

“Tisha B’Av is a moment of feeling like a rupture with our relationship and closeness to God,” Wilfond said. “Where is God in this moment? This is the Tisha B’Av question.”
