Emergency Food Drive for Community Pantry & Fridge

04 Nov @ 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

Location: Temple Emanuel Entrance

More than 1 million Massachusetts residents who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will lose access to their benefits on November 1 if the federal government shutdown persists. Please help us refill the Community Pantry & Fridge at the Ballard Vale United Church to support those in our community who experience food insecurity. Bins for non-perishables will be in the temple lobby from November 2–6. Coolers for perishables will be set up outside the temple’s main entrance on November 6.

The following items will be accepted (no expired items, please); items in bold are most needed:

shelf stable and regular milks
pastas
rice
sauces
soups
cereal
eggs
fresh fruits and vegetables
“Lunchables”
snacks (crackers, canned fruit, applesauce, pudding, etc.)
juice & juice boxes
yogurt
cheese
frozen meats

breakfast items (e.g., waffles)
formula & baby food
diapers & wipes

canned goods (fruit, veggies, soups, chili, etc.)

Hosted by the Ballard Value United Church, this 24-hour self-serve pantry and fridge, managed by Village Food Hub – a nonprofit organization birthed to expand the impact of the church’s food ministries – is convenient, safe, anonymous, and reflects the best of giving from neighbor to neighbor.
