Yom Shlishi, 10 Elul 5778

One day, we will all die; however death is a subject many of us would prefer to avoid. To live fully means to love and be loved. Eventually we will suffer the loss of someone we love and the responsibility of making final arrangements will fall to us. Rabbi Goldstein is available to guide you on the end of life rituals. We can also perform the funeral ceremony, and help you understand and implement meaningful Jewish mourning practices. Below is a guide to help ease your journey through the valley of the shadow of death.

Temple Emanuel has a proud history of serving all aspects of the religious life of the Jewish community since the congregation's founding in the early twentieth century. One major feature of that service to community is the Temple Emanuel Cemetery.

The Cemetery was established in 1941 on more than seven acres in Andover, acquired through the efforts of a specially formed committee of Temple Emanuel members. Now comprised of fifteen members, the Cemetery Committee oversees the maintenance of the grounds and also manages the perpetual care of the property and grave-sites. The Cemetery is professionally landscaped and maintained year-round, through the Committee's Perpetual Care Fund.

Temple members and others who may be interested in touring the facilities and/or purchasing available cemetery plots should direct their inquiries to Jonathan Samel.

The unveiling is the dedication of the headstone at the grave of a loved one. Traditionally this is done prior to the first year anniversary. Rabbi Goldstein is happy to assist you with this ritual. Please refer to the prayer pamphlet below or call the office for assistance.
